1 to 2 Weeks

Explore & Discover

Your journey begins right here on our website or with a visit to one of our model homes. Browse our communities across the Charlotte and Greenville-Spartanburg markets, compare floorplans using our interactive comparison tool, and use the mortgage calculator to get a sense of your monthly payment. When you find something that excites you, schedule a private tour or give us a call. Our sales team is available seven days a week and never uses high-pressure tactics. We want you to feel confident, not rushed.

1 to 2 Weeks

Choose Your Home & Lot

Once you have found a community and floorplan you love, your sales consultant will walk you through available lots, orientation options, and any applicable lot premiums. If you are purchasing a move-in ready home, this step is even simpler because the lot and floorplan are already paired. For scattered lot builds, we will help you evaluate the site and confirm that your chosen floorplan is a good fit. We hold your selected lot with a small earnest money deposit while you finalize financing.

2 to 4 Weeks

Secure Financing

We work with several preferred lending partners who understand new construction financing and can offer competitive rates, including construction-to-permanent loan programs. Your lender will guide you through pre-approval, lock your rate, and coordinate with our closing team on timeline. If you already have a lender you prefer, that works too. We make the process smooth regardless of who handles your mortgage. Our in-house mortgage calculator helps you model different scenarios including rate buydowns and seller concessions.

1 to 2 Weeks

Design & Selections

Every Red Cedar home comes with a premium standard specification package, so even our base finishes look and feel high-end. If you want to personalize further, you will meet with our design coordinator to select upgrades such as countertop materials, cabinetry finishes, flooring options, and fixture styles. For move-in ready homes, the selections are already complete and you can see exactly what you are getting during your tour. All pricing is transparent with no hidden fees or surprise change orders.

4 to 6 Months

Construction Begins

This is where the magic happens. Our construction team breaks ground and you will see your home take shape from foundation to framing to finishes. Red Cedar assigns a dedicated project manager to your build who provides regular progress updates with photos. You are always welcome to drive by and watch the progress, and we schedule formal walk-throughs at key milestones including pre-drywall (so you can see the framing, plumbing, and electrical before walls go up) and a final orientation before closing. Every home passes rigorous quality inspections at every construction milestone.

1 to 2 Weeks

Final Walk-Through & Closing

Before closing day, you will do a detailed walk-through of your completed home with your project manager. We review every room, demonstrate all systems (HVAC, water heater, appliances, smart home features), and address any items on the punch list. Once everything meets your approval, we coordinate with your lender and title company for a smooth closing. On closing day, you sign the paperwork, receive your keys, garage door openers, and a homeowner welcome packet with warranty information, maintenance guides, and emergency contacts.

Welcome home. Your new Red Cedar home is built to perform, with modern building science that delivers lower utility bills from day one, quality materials that stand the test of time, and a warranty program that gives you peace of mind. Our relationship does not end at closing. Red Cedar provides a comprehensive warranty with scheduled check-ins at 30 days, 6 months, and 12 months after move-in. We are always just a phone call away.
